Eizo introduces the FlexScan EV2490. The 23.8-inch display includes USB-C for connecting and charging peripherals.

The model will be available from mid-April. Its resolution, colour reproduction and viewing angle are fine, but far from distinctive. Connectivity steals the show.

USB-C, HDMI and even Ethernet

The Eizo FlexScan EV2490 supports a single USB-C input for connecting or charging peripherals. Charging power (70 watts) is more than sufficient for most notebook batteries.

In addition to USB-C, you’ll find two DisplayPorts and an HDMI input, each suitable for multi-monitor setups.

The Ethernet input is both rare and welcome. Devices that only support WLAN (most modern laptops) gain a wired Internet connection.

Resolution and sustainability

The EV2490 is the first FlexScan model to come in plastic- and polystyrene-free packaging. Eizo replaced synthetics with recycled cardboard.

Other specifications are less exciting, but adequate nonetheless. Size (23.8 inches) and resolution (Full-HD 1920×1080) are up to standard. The IPS panel offers a wide viewing angle.

Though the monitor base and stand are adjustable for healthy working positions, that’s to be expected from any modern display. The recommended retail price is 621 euros.
