Boomi has completed the acquisition of Lunar.dev. The Israeli company specializes in AI gateways, a control layer between enterprise systems and the AI models and agents that interact with them. The technology will become an integral part of the Boomi Enterprise Platform.
Lunar.dev built an agent-native gateway that manages traffic from LLMs, MCP servers, and APIs via a self-hosted control plane. This includes policy enforcement, observability, and cost management, all in one place. These capabilities will become a core component of Boomi Connect, the company’s managed MCP server solution.
Agents are growing faster than the guardrails
Agents invoke large language models, use tools, and rely on APIs, often without central oversight, consistent control, or an audit trail. Two factors reinforce each other in this regard. On the one hand, agents cannot always access the enterprise systems they need. On the other hand, IT lacks control over the available access.
The combination of Boomi Connect and Lunar.dev is designed to address both of these issues. The solution provides governance and connectivity in a single product, with access to more than 1,000 managed tools, including Salesforce, SAP, Workday, and ServiceNow, via the Model Context Protocol. Boomi handles all maintenance of the connectors.
Boomi works with AI tools such as Claude, Copilot, and Gemini, and connects cloud and on-premises applications without locking customers into a single vendor model.
Boomi also aims to accommodate future developments with its combined stack. For example, integration of Agent Skills via MCP is planned for an upcoming release. According to the company, that concept didn’t even exist a year ago.
