Windows 10 users could experience problems with crashing apps. Microsoft’s new preview update is said to address these issues, as well as problems with system memory overloading.
The problems occurred on Windows 10 devices running version 22H2. Microsoft found that the problem stemmed from problems with Windows Defender Application Control (WDAC). This software would cause a memory leak that exhausted the total capacity of system memory.
A second bug would be responsible for apps crashing when applying WDAC Application ID policies. The program was thus overactive in performing its tasks as WDAC allows administrators to implement restrictions on the apps users are allowed to launch from their devices.
Part of the August update
In the newly released preview update KB5040525, Microsoft is testing whether the problems have indeed been successfully addressed. The update will then be packaged as part of the Patch Tuesday update in August.
Those who want to install the update immediately can search for the latest updates in their settings.
