Veeam is adding a Splunk extension that makes insights from the Veeam Data Platform available to Splunk customers via an app. However, users must be Veeam Data Platform customers.
The new “Veeam App for Splunk” gives users a better overview of security events. Customers now no longer need to switch between the Veeam Data Platform and Splunk solutions to view the security status of enterprise environments.
“Veeam is focused on improving data resiliency for every customer. That includes seamless integration with leading security platforms,“ said John Jester, chief revenue officer at Veeam.
Ransomware focuses on backups
In the app, Veeam provides detailed dashboards, reports, and alerts for backup environments. “With this, customers can monitor incidents such as ransomware, inadvertent deletion, malware, and other cyber threats with their current tools,” Jester clarified.
Monitoring is important to act quickly on potential incidents. According to Veeam, monitoring backups is especially important. According to the backup specialist, 93 percent of ransomware attacks in 2023 targeted organizations’ backups.
To use the app, Splunk customers must be running at least Splunk Enterprise 9.1.0 or Splunk Cloud Platform 9.1.2308. The app can be accessed for free.
