Google makes Workspace Individual available in Europe

The software suite aims to help one-person businesses adopt large business tech capabilities.

Google is releasing its Workspace Individual subscription plan in Europe. The release comes more than a year after brining the service to other markets.

Workspace is Google’s productivity and collaboration software suite comprised of Gmail, Meet, Drive, Docs, Tasks, Forms, among other key applications. While many of these apps are available for free individually, Google monetizes the products by charging businesses to access additional features and integrations.

John Shriver-Blake, Group Product Manager for Google Workspace, made the announcement in a blog post. “We launched Google Workspace Individual over a year ago to help solo business owners reach new customers and bring their big ideas to life,” he writes. “Since then, customers in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Japan and Australia have all used it to grow, run and protect their businesses.”

He then adds: “Now, we’re launching Google Workspace Individual in Europe. This means that customers in France, Italy, Spain, Germany, the U.K., and Switzerland can benefit from new and upcoming capabilities designed to help individual business owners stay focused on what they love, and spend less time on tasks like scheduling appointments and sending emails.”

Targeting the solo business owner

With Workspace Individual, Google is targeting “solo business owners,” specifically, who pay a monthly fee so they can access premium video calling tools, such as recording, noise cancellation and longer group calls. They also can livestream from Google Meet to YouTube, and leverage “multi-send” for email newsletters and other marketing campaigns. Google recently announced a handful of new upcoming features too, including e-signatures baked directly into Google Docs.

“With this expansion of Google Workspace Individual, solo business owners in Europe can run, grow and protect their businesses with apps they’re already familiar with,” Shriver-Blake continues.

“This means more time helping customers and less time scheduling, emailing and updating calendars. In the months ahead, we’ll continue to bring Workspace Individual to an expanding list of countries.”
