Lenovo introduced new ThinkPad X1 laptops during CES 2023. According to the manufacturer, the models are made of durable materials and consume less energy than earlier iterations. The laptops feature Intel’s latest i7 processors.

Lenovo claims the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11, ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 8 and ThinkPad X1 Nano Gen 3 are more durable than their predecessors. The chassis of the Carbon Gen 11 and Nano Gen 3 use less aluminium and magnesium. In addition, packaging consists of recycled materials such as bamboo and sugar cane fibers. All packaging is plastic-free.

On the software front, the new Lenovo Commercial Vantage application should help businesses reduce carbon emissions by tweaking laptop settings to be more energy efficient. Settings include smart charging and backlight options, as well as Computer Vision3 Human Presence Detection and OLED configurations for X1 models with an OLED display.

Hardware and software

The new Lenovo X1 models run on Intel’s latest i7 processors with Intel vPro technology. The laptops feature up to 64GB of internal LPDDR5 RAM.

The Lenovo View application provides intelligent camera functionality, Dolby Vision enhances OLED quality and Lenovo ThinkShield bolsters security. The latter software features computer vision technology for secure logins, efficient power management and enhanced privacy through user detection.

The new laptops are expandable with the standalone Lenovo Go 4K Pro Webcam and Lenovo Desk Station. Prices and release dates are unknown at this time.
